Challenges are the main competition in The Birders and allow players to collect certain items upon winning:

• Trophies (ranking points)

• Challenge packages

• Challenge tokens (1 for completing a challenge with a fish larger than the opponent's, 2 for winning a challenge with a fish scoring higher than the opponent's, 3 for a victory with two larger fish)

• Coins

Birdwatchers can immediately open the challenge package after collecting enough challenge tokens, which can be used a limited number of times each day. After use, a timer will appear indicating that it's time to collect more tokens and open new packages.
